Written policy, procedure, and practice requires that emergency equipment, including fire extinguishers and first aid kits, are available during inmate transport. First aid kits should be inventoried and checked as determined by the health authority. Fire extinguishers are inventoried monthly for service ability. Comments : First aid kits and fire extinguishers should be checked for serviceabil ity and replaced, charged or restocked as needed. Protocols : Written policy and procedure. Process Indicators : Vehicle checklists; Vehicle inventory lists; Fire extinguisher and first aid kits inspection sheets; Observation.
