Offender’s Death 5-ACI-6C-16 (Ref. 4-4425)

Authorities having jurisdiction are promptly notified of an offender’s death. Procedures specify and govern the actions to be taken in the event of the death of an offender. Comment : The medical examiner or coroner should be notified of the offender’s death immediately. A postmortem examination should be performed if the cause of death is unknown, if the death occurred under suspicious circumstances, or if the offender was not under current medical care.
