ACA’S LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM

“We are in the business of helping people to be better. One of the ways we do this is by collaborating with the American Correctional Association (ACA) to provide agency leadership with excellent and unique training opportunities such as ACA Basic Supervisor’s LEAD and ACA Middle Managers LEAD programs. These noted ACA leadership programs support the

agency’s goal of cultivating learning, innovation, and collaboration.” Harold W. Clarke, Director of Virginia Department of Corrections

ACA’s Leadership Development Program teaches participants to assess the challenging dynamics of their organizational culture and their role as leaders within it. The training can be customized to meet the needs of agencies.

BASIC LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT FOR THE CORRECTIONS PROFESSIONAL This course includes forty (40) hours of instruction and is designed for new managers in a juvenile or adult correctional agency. The purpose of this course is to provide a management foundation, instill leadership skills, and improve the professional focus of participants to increase their agency’s future leadership pool and provide professional growth.

ADVANCED LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT FOR THE CORRECTIONS PROFESSIONAL This course includes eighty (80) hours of instruction and is designed for mid to upper-level managers in a juvenile or adult correctional agency. The purpose of this course is to sharpen the

management/leadership skills of participants, improve their effectiveness, prepare them for promotion and afford them the opportunity to take the ACA’s Certification Examination. ONSITE AND VIRTUAL OPTIONS AVAILABLE!

Setting a NEW Standard in Jails!

• Enhance professionalism • Improve conditions of confinement • Enhance operations • Improve public credibility • Increase morale

Accreditation: Excellence in Jails “The ACA accreditation process is a mechanism of checks and balances, and causes correctional systems to assess all facets of their organization. When we take a critical examination of our organizational processes, it offers an opportunity for internal oversight. Correctional systems can identify challenges, discover solutions and implement operational best practices which will significantly improve organizational efficiencies.” –Tony Wilkes, Chief of Corrections, Davidson County Sheriff’s Office (TN)
