Military Reception
Military Reception reflects the past and the future A special tradition of ACA gatherings is
to corrections and re habilitation dates back to 1870, when Brigadier General Thomas Barr attended the National Prison Association — now the ACA.” More recent history was noted by ACA Ex ecutive Director Robert Green who recreated a special moment from a past Congress. “Years ago, at an ACA
the Military Reception where attendees honor service members, including those still on active duty in military corrections, for their service. Patrick Swindell, President & COO of CoreCivic welcomed the
attendees noting that “It’s a privilege for CoreCiv ic to sponsor this event each year. Our founder, a decorated Ranger, served our country before creating our company. We deeply respect the sacrifices you’ve made — not only for our country but also for the corrections industry.” President Dixon followed and reminded the crowd that ACA is “proud to have military repre sentation on our executive board.” Brigadier General Sarah Albright reminded the assembled guests that “The Army’s commitment
event in Boston, RJ [Director Green’s son] met General Inch. He was just a child then, and the time General Inch spent with him left a lasting impression. It’s a memory I cherish deeply.” Director Green ended the proceeding by say ing he had visited Fort Leavenworth as he had promised and was touched by the “leadership, professionalism, and respect” he saw at every level of the facility.
