Law Enforcement Museum right across the street from the memorial. An overflow crowd filled the exhibit hall for a simple but moving ceremony. Chaplain Michele Reynolds of the Arlington County Sheriff’s Office gave the invocation. Dignitaries including Director Bryan Collier of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, Secretary Carolyn Scruggs of the Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services, Director Thomas Faust of the D.C. Department of Corrections, Commissioner Tyrone Oliver of the Georgia Department of Corrections, Sheriff Garry McFadden of Meck lenburg County, North Carolina, Donald Dease the Vice-Chairman, Correctional Peace Officers Foundation and Bill Alexander, Chief Executive Officer (National Law Enforcement Officers Me morial Fund) all spoke giving testimonials about fallen correctional officers and an overview of the role corrections officers play in the National Law Enforcement Museum. The wreaths were adorned with ribbons and banners from many jurisdictions and were laid with the accompaniment of a bagpiper who’s mournful strains echoed throughout the museum. Robert Green, ACA Executive Director summed up the events of the day and gave the assembled crowd the chance to explore the museum with dinner, drinks and guided activities in the museum. The ceremony

and subsequent event was an im portant moment for Winter Confer ence participants who had the unique opportuni ty to highlight the ultimate sacrifices made by so many
