• Award of Merit For an act of extraordinary bravery outside of professional duties • Community Service Award Open to ACA chapters and affiliates exclusively, for significant contributions in community service • Innovations in Corrections Award For a program that effectively and creatively addresses a specific problem or need • Martin Luther King, Jr. Scholarship Award Awarded to a minority recipient in undergraduate or graduate training in the criminal justice field

• Medal of Valor Award For an act of extraordinary bravery while on the job • Outstanding Journalism Award For an editor or news director of a media outlet having done the most in the past year to increase public knowledge about correctional issues. (Not necessarily conferred annually) • Peter P. Lejins Research Award For significant contributions in correctional research
