Gene A. Rued (NC) Technical Director/GS-11 MCIEast Regional Brig
Gene A. Rued enlisted into the U.S. Marine Corps in The Delayed Entry Program in 1983. Upon graduating a year later, he went to his assigned job field, the Military Corrections School. Rued completed a 22-year career with the U.S. Marines and retired in 2006 with the rank of master ser - geant. Upon military retirement, he moved back to Wisconsin Rapids, and attended the University of Wisconsin and studied psychology. Rued assumed a government position at the MCIEast Regional Brig in Camp Lejeune, NC as the technical director/GS-11 in 2013. Rued has a total of 30 years correctional experience and has advanced training in individual prisoner counseling. His is the ACA/PREA compliance manager of the facility handling all audits and compliance.

Annette Marie Bushfield (FL) Statewide Mental Health Educator and Director of Reentry Services, Centurion of Florida
Since 2007, Annette Marie Bushfield, MS, LMHC, has served the Florida DOC initially as counselor and case manager, and since 2014, as the first statewide mental health educator and di - rector of Reentry Services. Bushfield provides on-site and electronic trainings to new and existing psychologists, case managers, reentry specialists and clerks. She developed multimedia interdisci - plinary trainings and self-guided tools in compliance with Florida policy and procedures. Bushfield collaborates biweekly with the FDC on policy and form revisions, processes, compliance and training. She developed collaboration between FDC, DCF, community providers, and state hospitals to standardize an aftercare process, Baker Acts and Civil Commitments statewide. Bushfield continues as an active member of ACA, attending conferences regularly. She volunteered on the ACAMental Health committee and desires to use her experience to provide sound, practical input on policy and procedure as an ACA Delegate Assembly member.
Patrick R. Mahoney (FL) Director Florida Department of Corrections (FDC)
Patrick R. Mahoney has worked for the FDC since 1994. He began his career as a probation of - ficer supervising caseloads, including drug offender probation and community control. He served as the circuit training coordinator, training officers and teaching in the basic recruit academy. Mahoney rose through the FDC ranks serving as a regional program manager, assistant bureau chief, bureau chief of Transition and Substance Abuse Treatment Services and currently serves as the statewide director for the FDC Office of Programs and Re-Entry. He received his bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from the State University of New York at Brockport. Mahoney has served as a board member of many professional and commu - nity civic organizations over the years.
