Michael Kreutz (AZ) Detention Academy Commander Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office
Lt. Michael Kreutz joined the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office in 2001. He started out at the Durango Jail, and following invitation to the FTO Program, he completed the training course to become a field training officer and worked at the Training Academy, instructing various classes and topics. He was promoted to the rank of sergeant in 2007 and then lieutenant in 2011. In 2013, Kreutz was called upon to become the executive lieutenant for the Inmate Medical Services Division. A few years later, following his true passion of being a teacher and mentor to staff, Kreutz began his assignment at the Training Academy; he presently supervises a team comprised of several sergeants and officers facilitating in-service training for roughly 2,000 detention staff, as well as basic training for several recruit classes running simultaneously. In recent years, his organization pushed towards professional certification through the American Correctional Association as well as the reconfiguration of facilities towards direct supervision.
E. Keith Neely (FL) Retired Broward Sheriff’s Office
Lt. Col. Neely joined the Broward Sheriff’s Office Department of Detention in August 1987. He rose through the ranks, ultimately serving as director. He worked and supervised during his career in the following areas: General Population, Mental Health, Intake (Booking), Compliance/Accredita - tion, Classification, and Transportation. He has also served as an investigator and supervisor in the Division of Internal Affairs. Neely holds a bachelor’s degree in public administration from Barry University (Miami), is a graduate of the 2001 Florida Atlantic University Criminal Justice Executive Leadership Pro - gram, the Florida Criminal Justice Executive Institute in 2004, and the Southern Police Institute in 2005. He is a former commissioner with the Florida Corrections Accreditation Commission, a former member of the ACA Standards Com - mittee, and a former member of the Delegate Assembly in the category of Adult Local Detention Facilities (ALDF).
