Doug Dretke (TX) Executive Director
Correctional Management Institute of Texas (CMIT), Sam Houston State University (SHSU) Doug Dretke has served as director of CMIT for 14 years, focused on training and professional development needs of correctional professionals across the broad spectrum of corrections. Prior to CMIT, Dretke served 26 years with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice beginning as a correc - tional officer and advancing through the ranks, retiring as director of the prison division in 2006. He received a B.S. in criminology and corrections from SHSU and an MPA from Texas A&M, Corpus Christi. He served on ACA’s Delegate Assembly and Board of Governors, past Chair of the Professional Certification Commission, and Professional Educational Council. He is currently chair of the ACA Resolutions and Policy Commit - tee, and member of ACA’s International Committee. He is a past president of the Texas Corrections Association and received the Dr. George J. Beto Hall of Honor Award in 2009 recognizing his significant achievements to the correc - tional profession. Denise M. Robinson has more than 30 years of experience with all levels of corrections. She has worked closely with Ohio, national and international leaders to create prison and jail policies, im - prove supervision strategies for inmates and parolees, and implement and improve treatment plans for both inmates and persons on supervision. Robinson serves on numerous boards, committees and oversight panels. Robinson currently serves as ACA treasurer. She served on the Commission for Ac - creditation for Corrections for 12 years, including a term as chair. While on the Standards Committee, Robinson worked to develop performance-based core jail standards, performance-based international core standards, and performance- based expected practices for adult correctional institutions. Robinson’s professionalism, collaborations, and dedication to excellence are known across the corrections spectrum. Her numerous honors include the E.R. Cass Award; President’s Award (ICPA); Margaret Mead Award (ICCA); and President Obama’s Lifetime Achievement Award for Service. Rob - inson is a graduate of The Ohio State University. Denise M.
