The Chairman’s Keohane Award The Keohane award was established in honor of Tim Keohane, a longtime auditor who died while on an ACA audit. The Keohane Award is presented annually to an auditor in recognition of their superior contributions, professionalism, commitment and leadership to the auditing and accreditation process. This year, the award was bestowed on Arthur F. Beeler , Senior Lecturing Fellow at Duke Law and Adjunct Professor at North Carolina Central University. Commission on Accreditation for Corrections Walter E. Dunbar Accreditation Achievement Award The Dunbar Award was established in honor of Walter Dunbar, a man who was vital in starting the accreditation pro- cess. The Dunbar Award is the highest honor bestowed by the Commission on Accreditation for Corrections and is presented annually to a person or persons whose contributions have been superior in support of the accreditation process. Rick Raemisch , Former Commissioner of Colorado, and Gary C. Mohr , ACA President, Co-Chairs of the Restrictive Housing Subcommittee, both exemplify this award with their outstanding service. Lucy Webb Hayes Award The Lucy Webb Hayes Award was deemed after Lucy Webb Hayes, the wife of ACA’s first president, Rutherford B. Hayes. Lucy Webb Hayes influenced her husband to take an interest in reforming the prison system in Ohio. The award is now given out to agencies that have achieved both full ACA accreditation and PREA compliance. This year, the award was accepted by Alisha Tafoya Lucero , Secretary of Corrections at the New Mexico Corrections Department in Santa Fe, New Mexico, on behalf of the New Mexico Corrections Department . Global Eagle Award (formerly Golden Eagle Award) The Global Eagle Award is presented to state correctional agencies or trans-state independent organizations in recog- nition of accrediting every component within their area of responsibility. The Global Eagle Award represents the highest commitment to excellence in correctional operations and the dedication of these agencies to enhancing public safety and the wellbeing of incarcerated individuals. The Guanajuato, Mexico Juvenile System , accepted by Luis Razo , Director of General Social Reintegration for Adolescents in Leon, Guanajuato, Mexico, was awarded this high honor.
