Lifelong learning with recertification
By Cindy Gomez
A CA provides corrections professionals with the op- portunity to showcase their qualifications by becoming certified through the Corrections Certification Program (CCP). The CCP is de- signed to encourage lifelong learning and professional development. This is why recertification is required ev- ery three years in order to keep their certification current. At the end of the three-year period, corrections profes- sional must submit the following: –– A recertification application –– A summary sheet identifying –– Applicant and supervisor recertification declarations –– Recertification credits Once a corrections professional has been certified, they are required to continue their education and training by earning recertification credits via activities that go beyond the regular duties and requirements of their positions. All certified their recertification credits –– Documentation for their recertification credits –– The appropriate recertification fee
corrections professionals are required to obtain the minimum number of recertification credits based on their certification level. Professionals may earn up to 50% of their required credits in one of the following categories:
–– Training/education courses –– Publishing –– Conferences –– Discussion groups –– Committee/Task force –– Critique or assessment –– Additional experience/
