Military Corrections Committee Recognizes Correctional Officers of the Year

T he Military Corrections Committee to the Congress of Corrections. As a result of COVID concerns this past summer we had to adjust how we do business to recognize these tremendous performers. The Military Affairs Committee was founded and accepted as a committee to the ACA on Aug. 17, 1982 and has proudly represented those military corrections organizations across the United States and abroad for more than 38 years. The committee is made up of ac- tive duty, retired from active duty, civilian corrections professionals, and in some cases, contractors working in military corrections from each branch of the Armed Forc- es (Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marines). The committee currently has 153 active members made up of 81 Sol- diers, 30 Sailors, 19 Marines, 7 Airmen, and 16 civilians/ contractors. Most of our members work at ACA Certified Military Brigs/Prisons and are certified corrections pro - fessionals. Many of us are ACAAuditors and/or PREA Auditors. We all take a great deal of pride in our indi- vidual organizations and facilities, our service branch, the Department of Defense, the ACA, and most impor- tantly the thousands of service members and staff in the trenches at our facilities each day.
