these developmental theories. Sullivan reviews research regarding developmental and life course theories of child development and how to incorporate this into the development of juvenile justice treatment from assessment to identifying appropriate treatment. Intervention is about how to build skills and develop opportunities for change while focusing on growth and development. In order for a youth to be successful in life, they

must meet certain developmental milestones; without this they will not be able to grow into productive adults. Sullivan addresses this by providing examples of comprehensive programs based on juvenile risks, needs, strengths and opportunities for growth. He also discusses how to implement an evidence-based developmental system. He looks at the path taken that leads to involvement in the juvenile justice system and the role of the system to

stop this cycle through the eyes of a developmental approach. In conclusion, Sullivan acknowledges that there are obstacles and that the challenge is how to incorporate developmental principles throughout the system. By looking at the system from this approach, we have an opportunity to make a lasting impact on the lives of these youths and help turn them from a path of delinquency to a path of productive citizenship. u
