officers. “Corrections is an honorable profession,” he said. “It is a necessary profession, and it is a rewarding pro fession — very often unseen, but very much a part of the criminal justice sys tem that keeps our communities safe.” Resnick spoke of the courage it takes to walk into a facility each day, to respond to emergencies and to serve without expectation of recognition. The ceremony was not only a mo ment of mourning but also one of unity and resolve. “Let us honor the fallen by ensuring their sacrifice is never forgot ten,” Resnick urged, “and that the work we do is dedicated to their memories.” As the names of the fallen echoed through the memorial plaza, the strength of the correctional commu nity was palpable. These were not just names — they were parents, spouses, children, colleagues and friends. Their stories live on through those who con tinue to serve.
