Grand Prize Winners

Grand Prize drawing unites new friends T he Grand Prize drawing at the end of every Congress of Correction is always a highly anticipated event. This year the Grand Prize was a luxury cruise with a second prize of $1,500 in cash and third prize of $1,000 in cash. Attendees who have made their way through

President Robinson then chose one from each bowl as Director Green read off the names. The three finalists were: Mia Kelsaw from Indianapolis, Ronald Goudeau of the Rapids Par ish Sheriff’s Office in Alexandria, Louisiana, and Selina Huggard of Ft. Leavenworth, Kansas. Goudeau was the first name taken from the last bowl. The next name was for second place and that was Kelsaw. The Grand Prize Winner was Selina Huggard. Selina told the story of meeting Kelsaw at an event the previous day. They were sharing the last table and fell into a conversation about the Grand Prize drawing. They even attended another event later and exchanged their lifestories. Selina even said “How important this confer ence is to network and learn from each other!” The drawing concluded events in the Exhibit Hall on a high note. CT

the massive Exhibit Hall and visited with many of the corrections suppliers were arrayed around the stage in the middle of the Hall where President Denise Robinson thanked everyone for attending and kicked off the drawing. Executive Director Rob Green emceed the affair. He also thanked the attendees and promised them “the story of us” will continue in Orlando in January. Anticipation began to rise and the Grand Prize sponsors, Stephanie Minor of Acorn VAC, Craig Johnson from Acorn Engineering, Beau Carrigan from Allied, Lauren Ellis from NCIC Inmate and Sandra Hoover Senior V.P. from Vital Core all chose names from the big brass barrel and put them into fishbowls on the stage.
