PROFESSIONAL BIOGRAPHY

A native of Crossville, TN, Keli Oliver graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Maryville College, and then earned her law degree the University of Tennessee. Keli spent the first six years of her law career in private practice before transitioning to the public sector to defend the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County in federal civil rights cases. From 2007-2020, Keli served as the leader of a federal litigation team for the Metropolitan Nashville Department of Law, focusing primarily on defending use of force and employment cases for the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department and the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office. Keli also served as an adjunct professor of trial advocacy for Belmont Law School from 2017-2020. In 2020, Keli left the Department of Law to become in-house counsel for Sheriff Daron Hall and the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office. Her experience in defending the agency in litigation inspired her to join Sheriff Hall’s team to offer legal support for several of their innovative measures and to assist the agency in the necessary endeavor of risk management. Keli is currently the Deputy Chief of Staff for the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office, responsible for supervising the Legal, Investigations, and Standards Divisions. Outside of work, Keli loves travel, reading, and spending time with her husband and two daughters. She also volunteers as a coach for her younger daughter’s mock trial team and is the team “snack mom” for her older daughter’s tennis team.
