PROFESSIONAL BIOGRAPHY

My career as a corrections professional began in1984, with the Virginia Department of Corrections. I was hired to assist the dentist in 4-handed dentistry and in the clinic as a Licensed Practical Nurse. After obtaining my nursing degree in 1997, I was licensed as a Registered Nurse and quickly promoted to the Registered Nurse Supervisor and then to Lead Nurse. In 2002, Regional Nurse Manager Positions were created to assist in compliance with healthcare guidelines, policies and ACA Standards. I was selected as the Health Care Administrator for the Eastern Region. In this role, I lead a core of nurses in 14 prisons. My job changed to a Contract Monitor Manager. Leading the way, myself along with seven studious Registered Nurses reviewed health records and observed for compliance. I retired April 1, 2025, with 42 years of service. I have over 20 years of auditing with ACA and believe this organization presents the framework that encourages accountability, assist in removing obstacles and empowers agencies and individuals. I would be honored to serve as a commissioner.
