Dr. Marlah H. Mardis serves as Statewide Medical Director for the Georgia Department of Corrections, overseeing the delivery and continuity of medical care across the state's correctional system. With more than 35 years of healthcare experience, including family medicine, occupational health, and correctional healthcare, she has held leadership roles as a facility and regional medical director, health center director, and associate medical director. Prior to joining GDC, she served in correctional healthcare leadership positions with several correctional health providers and U.S. Marshals detention facilities. Dr. Mardis earned her medical degree from Morehouse School of Medicine and completed her Family Medicine residency at Howard University Hospital, where she served as Chief Resident. She is an active member of several professional organizations and is a frequent presenter on correctional healthcare and medical leadership.
