Dr. Ammons is a nationally recognized leader in correctional healthcare and behavioral health with more than 25 years of experience in clinical practice, healthcare operations, and executive leadership. Her career has focused on advancing evidence-based practices, quality improvement, and innovative healthcare solutions within correctional systems. She began her career with the Kansas Department of Corrections as a Clinical Supervisor and Forensic Psychologist and later served in behavioral health leadership roles through the University of Kansas Medical Center. A former U.S. Army officer, she completed her clinical psychology internship at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. A longtime member of the American Correctional Association, Dr. Ammons has served on the Commission on Accreditation, Standards Committee, and Behavioral Health and Substance Use Disorders Committees. She remains committed to strengthening correctional healthcare systems and improving outcomes for incarcerated populations.
