PROFESSIONAL BIOGRAPHY
Stanley E. (Stan) Davis is a distinguished criminal justice executive with over three decades of leadership in law enforcement and corrections. Davis began his career with the Mount Pleasant Police Department (1989–2001), rising to Lieutenant. He earned Supervisor of the Year in 1994, led the transition to community policing, and created the first investigator training program alongside the Habitual Offender Adoption Program to reduce recidivism. In 2001, Davis transitioned to the Naval Consolidated Brig Charleston, serving 20 years as a GS-13 Programs Manager. There, he managed enemy combatant detention, pioneered biometric prisoner tracking, and created an incentive unit for focused re-entry. A Certified Corrections Executive and American Correctional Association (ACA) auditor, he contributed to seven consecutive 100% ACA accreditation scores. Concurrently, Davis served in the U.S. Navy Reserve, retiring as an intelligence Lieutenant Commander in 2018. He was among the first reservists to earn the Information Warfare insignia and deployed to Kosovo following 9/11. From 2022 to 2024, Davis taught criminal justice as a full-time faculty member at Trident Technical College. In January 2025, Davis became Director of the Sheriff Al Cannon Detention Center in Charleston, South Carolina, one of the state's largest jails. He maintains dual accreditation from the ACA and the National Commission on Correctional Health Care (NCCHC) while pursuing Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) certification. Davis holds a BA in History from the College of Charleston, an MS in Criminal Justice from the University of South Carolina, and completed all USC doctoral coursework.
