PROFESSIONAL BIOGRAPHY
Emmanuel W. Fontenot is an educator, corrections professional, and accreditation leader with more than 30 years of experience in education and criminal justice. A graduate of Grambling State University, he began his career as a high school English teacher before serving 22 years with the Federal Bureau of Prisons in a variety of education and leadership roles, including Regional Education Administrator and Chief of Staff to the Warden. Since joining the Virginia Department of Corrections in 2013, Fontenot has advanced to Compliance, Certification, and Accreditation Manager. Under his leadership, all VADOC facilities achieved ACA accreditation, contributing to the Department earning both the Global Eagle Award and the Lucy Webb Hayes Award. Fontenot is active in his church, community, and professional organizations, including Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. He is a dedicated public servant, mentor, and proud father and grandfather.
