PROFESSIONAL BIOGRAPHY

Chris Cirrito is a nationally recognized criminal justice oversight executive, educator, and audit professional with more than 30 years of experience in corrections and criminal justice administration. He retired in 2026 as Chief Audit Executive for the Texas Board of Criminal Justice, overseeing accountability, risk management, ethics, and organizational oversight for one of the world’s largest correctional systems. A Certified Internal Auditor, Certified Fraud Examiner, and Certified Government Auditing Professional, Cirrito currently serves as Chair of the American Correctional Association Ethics Committee and contributes to several ACA committees. He is also an adjunct professor at Sam Houston State University, teaching graduate-level courses on governance, ethics, oversight, and accountability in criminal justice systems. Throughout his career, he has championed professionalism, accreditation, operational integrity, and continuous improvement across the corrections profession.
