PROFESSIONAL BIOGRAPHY

April Zamora has dedicated more than 25 years to public service and criminal justice leadership with the State of Texas and currently serves as Director of the Rehabilitation and Reentry Division at the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. Throughout her career, she has led initiatives focused on rehabilitation, mental health, substance use services, and successful community reentry for justice-involved individuals. Her experience includes serving as a parole officer, parole unit supervisor, program specialist for substance use services, Director of the Texas Correctional Office for Offenders with Medical or Mental Impairments, and Director of Reentry and Integration. Ms. Zamora has held numerous leadership positions within the Texas Corrections Association, including President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer, and is a recipient of the TCA Star Award and President’s Gavel Award. She also serves as a Commissioner with the American Correctional Association, the Texas Judicial Commission on Mental Health, and is a board member of the Texas Restaurant Foundation. Ms. Zamora is committed to collaborative leadership, evidence-based practices, and strengthening programs that improve outcomes for individuals, families, and communities across Texas.
