PROFESSIONAL BIOGRAPHY

Francis Abbott currently serves as the Executive Director of the Louisiana Board of Pardons & Committee on Parole and the Louisiana Victim Outreach Program, a position he has held since 2018. Since beginning his career with the Louisiana Department of Public Safety & Corrections in 2007, he has developed extensive experience in correctional administration, workforce development, reentry programming, and victim services. Mr. Abbott began his career with Prison Enterprises, working within vocational and job training programs at several state correctional facilities, including Louisiana State Penitentiary, Dixon Correctional Institution, Louisiana Correctional Institution for Women and Elayn Hunt Correctional Center. He later returned to Louisiana State Penitentiary, where he managed the nationally recognized Corrections Reentry Court Workforce Program, widely regarded as one of the most innovative reentry initiatives in corrections today. Throughout his career, Mr. Abbott has remained actively engaged in civic and professional leadership. He recently completed 12 years of service on the Board of Directors for Wilkinson County Christian Academy. He currently serves as Treasurer for the Association of Paroling Authorities International and as Chairman of the Louisiana Justice Hall of Fame which operates in partnership with the Louisiana Prison Museum and Cultural Center at Angola. His work continues to focus on advancing public safety, supporting victims, and promoting evidence-based correctional practices and successful reentry initiatives.
