PROFESSIONAL BIOGRAPHY

Chris Sweney began his career with the Douglas County Department of Corrections in 1998 as a Correctional Officer and advanced through the ranks to his most recent position as Captain of Accreditation and Compliance. Throughout his tenure, he has held numerous supervisory and management roles, led new initiatives, and successfully coordinated and managed audits conducted by multiple oversight entities, including the American Correctional Association (ACA), the National Commission on Correctional Health Care (NCCHC), U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), and the United States Marshals Service (USMS). In addition to his work with Douglas County, Mr. Sweney served for eight years on the Commission on Accreditation for Corrections with the ACA. He is a certified PREA auditor who has conducted more than 200 audits and consults with multiple agencies on a broad range of correctional topics. Mr. Sweney holds a degree from the University of Nebraska at Omaha and is a graduate of both the National Jail Leadership Command Academy and the Jail Executive Development Program at the Correctional Management Institute of Texas at Sam Houston State University.
