PROFESSIONAL BIOGRAPHY
Vernise Robinson serves as the Workforce Development Administrator for the Office of Reentry within the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction. In this role, she is responsible for developing employer partnerships, assisting incarcerated individuals with resume development, and expanding workforce opportunities that support successful reentry and long-term employment outcomes upon their return to the community. Ms. Robinson’s career in public service within corrections spans 27 years and includes experience across institutional operations, victim services, parole and workforce development. She began her career as a Juvenile Correctional Officer with the Ohio Department of Youth Services before continuing her service with the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction in roles including Unit Staff, Victim Advocate, Parole Program Specialist, Parole Board Hearing Officer, and Assistant to the Regional Director within the Office of Prisons. Her diverse professional experience has provided her with a well-rounded understanding of corrections, reentry, and community supervision, further strengthening her commitment to helping men and women successfully transition back into their communities. Ms. Robinson is active in several professional organizations, including the American Correctional Association and the National Association of Blacks in Criminal Justice, where she is a Life Member, past President of the Ohio Chapter, and former National Secretary. She also serves as Senior Vice President of the National Returning Citizens Association. Her honors are inclusive of but not limited to the President’s Volunteer Service Gold Award in 2022 and 2023, presented by President Joseph R. Biden. Ms. Robinson has a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Toledo and holds the designation of Certified Public Manager.
