Wayne Salisbury is a seasoned public safety executive with nearly 40 years of experience in corrections, law enforcement, and organizational leadership. He currently serves as Director of the Rhode Island Department of Corrections, providing strategic oversight of statewide correctional and probation operations. Rising through the ranks from Correctional Officer to Director, Salisbury has held leadership roles including Warden, Deputy Warden, and Assistant Director. He has extensive experience managing correctional institutions, budgets, workforce operations, policy development, and technology initiatives, with a focus on accountability, innovation, and operational excellence. Salisbury holds degrees in Public Administration, Criminal Justice, and Cyber Security and is a Certified Corrections Executive. He is an active member of the American Correctional Association and several national corrections organizations, contributing to initiatives focused on professional standards, technology, training, and public safety.
