PROFESSIONAL BIOGRAPHY

Cathy Smith-Curry has more than 27 years of experience in juvenile justice and corrections with the Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) and Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC). She currently serves as the Statewide Director of the Office of Reentry Services for DJJ, where she leads statewide initiatives focused on reducing recidivism and improving outcomes for justice-involved youth through education, behavioral health, workforce development, and community partnerships. Throughout her career, Cathy has developed innovative collaborations with organizations including Morehouse School of Medicine, Georgia Tech, Home Depot, Goodwill Industries, and the Technical College System of Georgia to expand opportunities for youth and families. She has also led leadership development and training initiatives within GDC, overseeing management and command-level training programs while helping implement the agency’s first e-learning platform. A dedicated public servant and community leader, Cathy serves as Board Chair for S.H.A.R.E. House of Douglas County and remains actively involved in organizations focused on education, leadership, and community service. She is a summa cum laude graduate of Mercer University with a degree in Organizational Leadership.
