PROFESSIONAL BIOGRAPHY

Since 2005, Myra has worked for the TDCJ, serving the agency as a nurse and Manager IV in the Office of Health Services Monitoring and overseeing the operational review compliance monitoring program. In 2007, Myra was appointed to her current position as the Chief for the Office of Professional Standards, overseeing 29 employees. The Office of Professional Standards is responsible for investigating and responding to third party health related complaints, ensuring offender access to care utilizing the audit process and the operations of a Family Hotline. Myra is a graduate of the University Of Texas School Of Nursing in El Paso, Texas, where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1975. Myra is also a Veteran after serving on Active Duty from 1981 to 1986 and in the Army Reserves/Inactive Reserves from 1986 to 2009. During this time, Myra received several awards to include two meritorious service medals for her service as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner from 1984 to 1986 and a Clinical Nurse Specialist during Operation Desert Shield/Storm in 1991. She is currently a member of the American Correctional Association (ACA) and is active in her church. She is the president of the Class of Huntsville High School, 1971. On a national level, Myra has served as an appointed as a Commissioner on Accreditation by the President of ACA. Currently, she is a member of the Delegate assembly and would be honored to continue to be a representative of the Delegate Assembly.
