PROFESSIONAL BIOGRAPHY

John J. Coleman has dedicated more than four decades to public service. He began his career at 17 in the Ohio Army National Guard while still in high school, followed by four years of active duty in the United States Marine Corps. After completing his military service, John returned to Ohio and entered the field of corrections, starting as a corrections officer. Through commitment and leadership, he advanced to warden and ultimately Chief of the Ohio Penal Industries. After retiring from Ohio’s correctional system, John moved with his family to Raleigh, North Carolina. He now serves as the Chief Executive Officer of North Carolina Correction Enterprises within the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction. John pursued higher education as a non-traditional student, earning a bachelor’s degree in Sociology from The Ohio State University and a Master of Business Administration in Executive Management with a specialization in Project Management. He holds professional credentials including Project Management Professional (PMP), Six Sigma Master Black Belt, PROSCI® Certified Change Practitioner, and a certificate of specialization in strategy from Harvard Business School Online.
