PROFESSIONAL BIOGRAPHY
Christie Haney serves as the Executive Director of the Correctional Management Institute of Texas (CMIT). Created in 1994, the Institute is charged with developing and delivering professional training programs for practitioners in juvenile and adult community and institutional corrections agencies. CMIT is part of the George J. Beto Criminal Justice Center on the campus of Sam Houston State University. CMIT works closely with correctional agencies and associations to address training needs. CMIT also works with groups nationwide to help bridge the gap between practitioners and higher education. Christie currently serves on the advisory board for Corrections Competency Based Education (CBE) at Sam Houston State University. She has proven instrumental in shaping the college’s pathways designed to meet the evolving demands of today’s corrections workforce. Her tenure with the Institute and the College of Criminal Justice has been a driving force in advancing corrections education and professional development.
