PROFESSIONAL BIOGRAPHY

Denisha Goodman is an accomplished executive leader with more than two decades of experience in correctional administration, compliance, accreditation, mental health services, and organizational leadership within New York State government. She currently serves as Assistant Commissioner for Correctional Industries and Compliance Standards for the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision (DOCCS), where she provides executive oversight for statewide accreditation, internal controls, compliance standards, and correctional industries operations. Throughout her distinguished career, Ms. Goodman has held several progressive leadership positions including Superintendent, First Deputy Superintendent, Deputy Superintendent, and Assistant Deputy Superintendent. In these roles, she has led large-scale operational initiatives, directed multidisciplinary teams, developed policies and procedures, and ensured compliance with state and national standards while maintaining the safety and security of staff and incarcerated populations. She is also a certified PREA and ACA Auditor. Ms. Goodman’s professional foundation began in mental health and social services, where she served in clinical, supervisory, and program development roles across correctional, psychiatric, and community-based settings. Her expertise includes accreditation, enterprise risk management, internal controls, auditing, policy development, staff training, labor relations, and organizational improvement. Ms. Goodman leads with collaboration and commitment to operational excellence; she has participated in statewide and national training initiatives and has played a significant role in strengthening compliance systems and promoting effective correctional practices. She remains dedicated to advancing organizational integrity, fostering professional development, and supporting initiatives that enhance public service, safety, and institutional effectiveness.
