PROFESSIONAL BIOGRAPHY

Jason Clark is the Chief Programs Officer for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ).Clark began his career with the agency at the age of 18. While attending Sam Houston State University, he spent his summer breaks working inside various prisons in Huntsville. After a brief stint in television news, he went on to hold a wide variety of positions at TDCJ, including Public Information Officer, Director of Public Information, Deputy Chief of Staff, and Chief of Staff. During his tenure as Chief of Staff, he led significant initiatives that re-envisioned traditional policies and approaches to incarceration, oversaw large cross-divisional projects that impacted public safety, and worked closely with the legislature to advance criminal justice in Texas. In November 2024, Clark was named Chief Programs Officer. He oversees Classification and Inmate Transportation, Rehabilitation and Reentry, Administrative Review and Risk Management, Chaplaincy and Volunteer Services, Victim Services, and the agency’s communication efforts. As Chief Programs Officer, Clark focuses on implementing initiatives to address the evolving needs of the agency’s staff and inmate population, encouraging innovation to elevate programs and services within TDCJ.
