PROFESSIONAL BIOGRAPHY

Shannon Bond is a distinguished corrections professional with 27 years of dedicated service, currently serving as the Compliance and Accreditation Director for the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction (NCDAC). In this role, she provides vital statewide leadership by guiding facilities through the rigorous ACA accreditation process to ensure operational excellence. Her extensive operational knowledge makes her uniquely qualified to represent her colleagues in the ACA Assembly of Delegates. Ms. Bond’s career with NCDAC began on the front lines as a Correctional Officer at Pasquotank Correctional Institution. She rose through the ranks to serve as a Sergeant at Bertie Correctional Institution and a Lieutenant at Tyrrell Prison Work Farm, where she managed specialized assignments including Safety Officer, PREA Compliance Manager, Armory Officer, Canteen Supervisor, and Training Coordinator. She also brought crisis-management expertise to the department as the Eastern Region Hostage Negotiation Team Leader from 2022 to 2024. Her administrative leadership includes serving as Eastern Regional Compliance Manager (2021) and Accreditation and Compliance Manager for Institutions (2024), before being promoted to Director in March 2026. A Certified General Instructor since 2012, Ms. Bond specializes in Firearms, Baton, PREA, and CRDT. She holds an Advanced Criminal Justice Certificate, completed the Pacific Institute, and is a graduate of the Correctional Leadership Development Program. She is an active member of the American Correctional Association, Southern States Correctional Association, and North Carolina Correctional Association.
