legal Updates for CorreCtions professionals Brief Overview This is a discussion of the FCC’s implementation of the Martha Wright-Reed Act, 340(b) Prescription Drug Plan, and the Safe Skies Act, and federal actions regarding the use of cell phone jamming technology, and how these things impact a carceral setting. We will give an overview of the issue and a history of how we got to where we are. We will give an update on what changes are currently taking place and the status of those changes. 3 Legal Objectives • Understand the impact the FCC’s

implementation of the Martha Wright-Reed Act has on a carceral setting, the history, and where we may be going in the future. • Understand the impact of the 340(b) Prescription Drug Plan on a carceral setting, the history, and where we may be going in the future. • Understand the impact of the Safe Skies Act and federal actions regarding the use of cell phone jamming technology in a carceral setting, the history, and where we may be going in the future.
