Harnessing the Fraud Triangle: Insight into Corruption by Correctional Staff Room 101 A TRACK: Organizational Management Overview: This workshop focuses on the Fraud Triangle as a practical lens for understanding and preventing employee corruption in correctional environments. Emphasis is placed on the triangle’s three elements, pressure, opportunity, and rationalization, and the behavioral red flags that emerge from them. The course will also introduce a collaborative research initiative between the Texas Board of Criminal Justice Office of the Independent Auditor, Office of the Inspector General, and Texas Special Prosecution Unit, utilizing the Fraud Triangle as a basis to interview and collect information related to correctional staff who have been arrested and charged with corruption, such as the introduction of contraband. Legal Updates for Corrections Professionals Room 102 A TRACK: Organizational Management Overview: This is a discussion of the FCC’s implementation of the Martha Wright-Reed Act, 340(b) Prescription Drug Plan, and the Safe Skies Act, and federal actions regarding the use of cell phone jamming technology, and how these things impact a carceral setting. We will give an overview of the issue and a history of how we got to where we are. We will give an update on what changes are currently taking place and the status of those changes.
