While the concept is compelling, the realities of implementation—navigating institutional culture, building staff buy-in, and maintaining program integrity—are often complex. This session offers a deep dive into a recently implemented peer-led education initiative, guided by two facilitators who were directly involved in its design and execution. Moderators will walk participants through the full implementation process, including planning, pilot phases, early outcomes, and course corrections. This session emphasizes practical insight and candid reflection, highlighting what worked, what didn’t, and what they would do differently. It highlights solutions that improve access to medical and dental care, reduce costly offsite transports, and address staffing shortages. Participants will learn how integrated telehealth technology and provider support can enhance efficiency, strengthen compliance with care standards, and reduce legal risk. The session also outlines implementation strategies and real-world outcomes. Participants will gain practical insight into modernizing correctional healthcare systems while improving patient outcomes, safety for correctional officers and operational performance.
