2026 ACA 156th Congress of Correction Pittsburgh_Program Book

Dear Attendees – On behalf of Allegheny County, it is my pleasure to welcome you to Pittsburgh for the 156th Congress of Correction. We are honored to host professionals from across the country and around the world who are committed to advancing the field of corrections and strengthening our systems with care and innovation. From our rivers and neighborhoods to our thriving cultural and academic institutions, we are proud to be a region that values both its history and its future. We hope you take time during your visit to experience all that our community has to offer. Here in Allegheny County, we are working to reimagine what a correctional system can be. At the Allegheny County Jail, that includes expanding access to Medication for Opioid Use Disorder (MOUD), with the Commonwealth’s first licensed unit offering methadone induction for individuals in custody. It also includes innovative programs like Teaching Animals and Incarcerated Lifelong Skills (TAILS), which partners incarcerated individuals with shelter dogs to build skills, responsibility, and connection. We are equally committed to civic engagement, supporting voter education and registration efforts to ensure eligible individuals have a voice in our democracy. These efforts reflect our broader commitment to safety, connection, and opportunity for all. We are grateful for your work and leadership, and we hope your time here sparks new ideas and partnerships. Welcome to Allegheny County. Sincerely,

Sara Innamorato Allegheny County Executive
