SATURDAY, AUG. 1 3:30–4:30 P.M. Clinical Updates in Psychiatry: New and Innovative Interventions for Psychiatric Disorders [CME|CEU|CERP] Room: 320 Primary Community of Focus: Healthcare, Clinical Overview: A recent review of the psychiatric literature offers many new and exciting psychiatric treatment options available to us in correctional healthcare. Some of these new breakthroughs involve using well established medications such as Lithium, Bupropion, and Doxazosin to treat or augment disorders such as Dementia, PTSD, stimulant use disorder and weight gain from antipsychotics. Tardive Dyskinesia and cannabis use disorder treatment options will also be discussed. In addition, EMDR therapy as well as testing options for mild cognitive impairment will be discussed. Learning Objectives: • Explain at least three potential mechanisms of action of Lithium therapy in the treatment of mild cognitive impairment. • Describe the benefit of Semaglutide in regard to the treatment of metabolic syndrome due to antipsychotic therapy. • Identify three potential psychiatric treatment options for PTSD and gain a fundamental

understanding of EMDR.
