A proactive comprehensive evaluation, coupled with master planning, is imperative to assess operational viability and sustainability. Employing an interdisciplinary approach ensures informed decisions regarding renovations, upgrades, or the construction of new buildings, all of which are essential elements of a comprehensive master plan. This approach proactively lowers operational costs, heightens safety measures, encourages collaboration and creates a less stressful environment, aligning seamlessly with ODRC’s Core Values. The aim is to prepare individuals for success at different levels. • Contingent Hire: Instill Knowledge, Preparedness and Confidence. • Correctional Officer Trainee: Mentorship, Advanced Techniques, Situational Awareness and Professionalism.
The Positive Impact of Workforce Development on Incarcerated Individuals Room W231 B/C Overview: This presentation is going to highlight the positive impact of Workforce Development within Correctional Industries. We will feature two (2) Correctional Industries business operations. We will discuss how their training, skills development, employment opportunities and post-release employer partners are making a difference not only to the incarcerated individuals but also in their communities. This presentation will include success stories, and you will hear from the incarcerated individuals themselves how Correctional Industries Workforce Development has positively changed their lives. Primary Presenter: Linda Simpson , Workforce Development and Training Coordinator, Oregon Corrections Enterprises, Salem, Oregon Presenter 2: William Rutledge , Design Draftsman, Georgia Correctional Industries, Decatur, Georgia Correctional Intelligence: Using Available Resources to Interdict Kilos of Narcotics Room W240 C Overview: Correctional intelligence plays a vital role in ensuring the safety and security of correctional facilities by addressing the pervasive issue of contraband and narcotics smuggling. The introduction of contraband not only jeopardizes the safety of staff and inmates but also undermines rehabilitation efforts. Correctional intelligence, through the collection, analysis and dissemination of actionable information, enables authorities to proactively identify and disrupt smuggling networks, both internal and external. By employing advanced intelligence techniques such as surveillance, informant management, data analysis and inter-agency collaboration, correctional intelligence
