B-2I Trauma Informed Care Road Map: An Overview of Strategies and Key Concepts to Create and Implement a Culture of Trauma Informed Services (CE) Grand Ballroom 11 Track: MDST Treatment This workshop will help identify the need for building and sustaining a culture of trauma-informed care (TIC) within corrections. TIC practices will help facilities promote a culture of safety, empowerment, support the healing and recovery of those we serve with serious mental illness, help to avoid re-traumatization; promote staff well-being; assist with PREA investigations and decrease the chance of recidivism. Learning Objectives: 1. Participants will be able to identify what trauma is and the effects it has on the individual. 2. Participants will be able to list the strategies for developing and implementing trauma- informed policies.
