examine current trends and challenges in three states that are dealing with a significant population of inmates who are aging in place in the prison environment. Issues to be examined include the high cost of care for elderly inmates, housing considerations, program and service needs and specialized training for staff assigned to work with elderly inmates. We will also discuss future challenges, as the elderly prison population continues to grow over the next 20-30 years. Learning Objectives: 1.
