B-2D Expanding Reentry Housing Options for People Leaving Incarceration Crystal Ballroom D Track: Reentry Providing affordable permanent housing is critical in reducing justice involvement (Goering et al., 2011) while achieving goals including housing stability (National Academies, 2018) and decreased incarceration costs (McBain et al., 2021) . However, a nationwide housing shortage and collateral consequences to accessing available housing make finding housing difficult for many. Given these barriers, connecting people leaving incarceration to housing is an integral part of the reentry process. Corrections agencies can leverage a range of approaches, interventions and funding streams to help increase connections to and availability of housing. Participants will hear from communities at the forefront of this work at the state and local level. Learning Objectives: 1. Identify the role housing plays in facilitating successful reentry. 2. Become familiar with a range of models and

3. Learn strategies from other states on how to leverage and fund these models. Moderator: Andre Bethea , Policy Advisor, Bureau of Justice Assistance, Office of Justice Programs, U.S. Department of Justice, Washington, D.C. Speakers: Emily Bressler , MPH, Pima County Justice Services, Tucson, Arizona; Thomas Coyne , MPP, The council of State Governments Justice Center, Washington D.C.; Luis Resto , Pennsylvania Department of Corrections, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania B-2E Can Politics and Correctional Ethics Coexist?
