B-1D We’re on the Same Team: Collaboratively Delivering Evidence-Based Practices in Reentry Crystal Ballroom D Track: Reentry The Corrections and Community Engagement Technical Assistance Center (CCETAC) provides coaching to community-based reentry organizations. Pinellas Ex-offender Reentry Coalition (PERC) is a model for success and has built vital and effective partnerships with their corrections partner, Florida Department of Corrections. In this workshop we will discuss ways community-based organizations can build effective partnerships and coalitions with Departments of Corrections to deliver sustainable, evidence-based services to people returning to the community from incarceration, initially utilizing BJA funding. Speakers from PERC and Florida Department of Corrections will highlight their pathway to success through examples of collaboration, compromise, shared vision-building and sustainability. Learning Objectives: 1. Participants will be able to identify the principles of effective collaboration and coalition building across corrections and community stakeholders to build stronger reentry supports and programming for returning individuals. 2. Participants will be able to identify evidence-based practices useful in building successful reentry programs. 3.Participants will be able to identify strategies for sustaining program momentum once financial support from Second Chance Act Federal funding has expired. B-1E Ohio’s Quality Assurance of Transportation Practices: A Back to Basics Approach In Evaluating Transportation Protocols and Best Practices Crystal Ballroom E Track: Other — Staff Training The presentation will showcase an in-depth explanation of the process put in place to assess the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction transportation protocols. The review was initiated after the Texas Department of Corrections tragedy which originated during transportation of incarcerated persons and impacted innocent lives in the community. ODRC immediately ordered an agency review of agency transportation protocols to identify the good practices, the needed areas of improvement and the best practices which could be shared on a national stage for betterment of our profession. The review consisted of an analysis of 28 correctional institutions and related systems which offered a diverse representation of findings. Learning Objectives: 1. Be able to apply the same analytical concepts to the student’s agency to improve transport operations. 2. To learn from the lessons experienced by the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction to identify short comings or localized best practices that can be shared with the audience. 3.To better be able to identify opportunities for improvement within their own agency to protect their employees, incarcerated persons and community.
