A-4G What Would You Do? An In-depth MDST Case Study of an Individual Diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder (CE, CERP, Y CE) Grand Ballroom 13 Track: Mental Health Sponsored by the ACA Behavioral Health Committee Individuals diagnosed with borderline personality disorder (BPD) exhibit some of the most challenging and disruptive behaviors evidenced in a correctional environment. Security often looks to the behavioral health staff to”fix” the problem. As we will explore in depth in this presentation, there rarely are any magical cures, but psychologists, social workers, and other behavioral health professionals do have some tools and skill sets to lead a Multidisciplinary Team to help manage the disruptive behavior, while offering support and skills training to the individual suffering with BPD. In particularly challenging cases, as the one we will discuss, it often helps to pull community resources into the solution. Learning Objectives: 1. Participants will be able to identify characteristics of Borderline Personality Disorder.

2. Participants will be able to communicate interventions, such as dialectical behavior therapy, proven to effectively manage symptoms of borderline personality disorder in a jail setting. 3.Participants will be able to identify the importance of community and facility involved multi-disciplinary approach for managing complex cases.
