A-2C Let’s Help Our Youth: Trauma-Informed Practices for Daily Use in Juvenile Justice Facilities Crystal Ballroom C Track: Juvenile Youth in juvenile justice facilities often have multiple exposures to traumatic events, negatively impacting their behavior and ability to form positive relationships. It is critical we provide these youth with the most rigorous, evidence-based treatment and programming to support the goal of these facilities to habilitate and rehabilitate youth. This also means we should ensure all practices are trauma-informed. This presentation will describe how to evaluate and integrate trauma-informed practices within juvenile justice settings using the Check-in/Check-out intervention and PRIDE conversation skills. Learning Objectives: 1. Participants will be able to describe how relationship-building practices, such as conversations guided by PRIDE skills can improve youth behavior and foster the development of positive adult/youth relationships. 2. Participants will be able to list the critical components of a conversation guided by PRIDE skills.

3.Participants will be able to explain how PRIDE skills enhance check-in/check-out conversations.
