D-1I Reentry Best Practices for People with Substance Use Disorders or Co-Occurring Disorders (CE, CERP) Grand Ballroom 11 Track: Treatment This workshop will assist participants in identifying best practices for implementing programs that include treatment for individuals with substance use and co-occurring disorders (SUD/CODs). The workshop will also identify ways agencies can collaborate and identify shared goals towards a successful reentry process. A Second Chance Act grantee from Durham County, NC will detail how they were able to successfully reintegrate participants with SUD/CODs back into their communities, including how they have addressed challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic to address behavioral health needs and necessities such as long-term housing needs. The workshop will conclude with a discussion moderated by staff from the Bureau of Justice Assistance. Learning Objectives: 1. Participants will be able to address the complex needs of people who have behavioral health issues and are involved in the criminal justice system. 2. Participants will be able to identify best practices to successfully reintegrate people with behavioral health needs back into the community after release from incarceration. 3.Participants will be able to summarize the importance of collaborating with community partners to ensure continuity of care for people reentering the community.
