Correctional wellness is not only important in this field. It is essential to maintaining the health and wellness of those who serve in this specialized career. With the never-ending needs and responsibilities which exists in a 24/7 environment, it is challenging to find the time, and space, to encourage wellness for staff. As staff members working in this field, it can be especially challenging to break away from the hypervigilance of work role patterns and “being on”. Staff members may find it more uncomplicated, and even comfortable, to adopt the lifestyle to keep their “correctional hat” on, even when they are not at work. This workshop is specially designed to introduce strategies for departments to

How do you create space for wellness to be part of the conversation? How do you keep it part of the conversation? And how can a department encourage staff to create their own space for wellness? Along the way in this workshop, do not be surprised if you take away a few strategies for yourselves. We can each use integrating time and space for wellness. 2.
