This workshop will discuss how agencies can implement mobile supervision of offenders in the community through the use of technology, mobile buses and telephone reporting. The workshop will include the ability to look at actual mobile buses that have been successfully dispatched into the field to provide offenders with access to services in the communities where they reside and work. Learning Objectives: 1. Learn how remote reporting is used to supervise offenders in the communities where they reside. 2. Discuss how to maximize resources by using telephone reporting to supervise low risk offenders and supplement the supervision of offenders with a higher risk to re-offend. 3. Explore how a mobile bus is bringing reporting to the community and increasing offender success. Track: Reentry/Community Corrections The practice of Aquaponics in corrections is a growing movement that focuses on sustainable agriculture, education and innovation. These practices have developed into the burgeoning field of green jobs available for inmates as they return to their communities. This workshop will showcase a panel of Aquaponics programs in corrections from three different jurisdictions: The Virginia Department of Corrections, the Windham School District (Texas Department of Criminal Justice) and the Northwest Joint Regional Correctional Facility located at Ft. Lewis in Washington State. The case-studies provided by these three jurisdictions will highlight different aspects of the Aquaponics field and how they support the unique missions of corrections. Learning Objectives: 1. Understand what Aquaponics is and how it relates to a correctional environment.
