This program offers participants the ability to gain leadership training and experience. The scholarship is for Criminal Justice Majors. The total number of scholarships available is 45 active scholarship recipients. The value of the scholarship is $15,000 annually. Guaranteed a paid internship at the Tecumseh State Correctional Institution at a rate of $19/ hr. Students will be trained as any other Correctional Employee at the Department of Corrections Staff Training Academy. Learning Objectives: 1. Familiarization of history of NDCS/TSCI staffing issues.

C-2A Evidence-Based, Results Driven and Innovative Best Practices in Workforce Development at the Florida Department of Corrections Crystal Ballroom A Track: Prisons This presentation will explore how the data-informed and innovative strategies being utilized at the Florida Department of Corrections are meeting the programming and services needs of its incarcerated population and those returning to Florida’s communities with a focus on leveraging inter-agency partnerships and alignment of missions, specialized transition programming for its most vulnerable inmates, innovative strategies to that utilize technology to maximize provision of services, pre-release community connections and a multi-disciplinary approach to career development and release planning which values multi-faceted resources to improve outcomes, provide vital services and reduce recidivism. Learning Objectives: 1. To explore ways to align inter-agency objectives to ensure successful outcomes for inmates transitioning back into society and enhance their ability to be self-sustaining and contributing members of their communities, while obtaining the support they need to live independently and not lapse into unsuccessful outcomes, poor decision making and recidivism. 2. To examine tools which enhance collaboration among institutional staff, workforce development staff, community reentry service providers and employers statewide. 3.To examine the statutorily mandated 100-Hour Employability Skills Programs (to include a newly created trauma-informed employability and life skills training that
